Octagonal, smoothbore steel barrel with front and rear sight. Flat, flintlock lockplate engraved and stamped "SAML/SLOCOMB/NEW ORLEANS". Full length figured maple stock with relief carved cheekpiece on left side terminating in a scroll. Stock features a high comb and barrel extending 1/2" past end of brass nose cap. Small, circular brass patch box on right side of stock, brass buttplate, iron triggerguard and small brass escutcheon around lock retaining screw. Very good condition. Barrel lock and trigger guard retain a heavy dark brown patina with some edge wear and scattered areas of light pitting. Appears to be original flintlock. Brass is unpolished and retains a mellow patina. Stock is excellent with a few minor marks from use.
