These were manufactured from 1938 - 1940. This one is dated 1941. Features the metal vent guard, metal is blued, has a pistol grip stock with vented wood hand guard and has an original period magazine which is not number to gun. Stock is stamped "887". Bolt is etched "887". Metal retains approximately 98% of the dull military style blue finish. Dated 1941 on upper chamber. Hardwood stock is excellent. Fine bore and action. These rifles were very popular with the Russian military during WWII and played an important part in the Battle of Stalingrad.
