"byf" is the code for Mauser-Werke Oberndorf. It is referred to as the "Black Widow". All small parts are dark blued. Comes with a blued magazine with black cap, stamped "Made In Germany", and has the checkered black Mauser Krieghoff type grips (page 50, Krieghoff book). Chamber is stamped 1940. Toggle is stamped "byf". Nazi eagle on left side of toggle. Waffenamt 655 on left side of barrel. Waffenamt 655 stamped twice on right side of frame. Nazi eagle with swastika on right side of frame and barrel. Bottom of frame has import stamp "VEGA". All matching numbers. With the exception of some high edge wear and some dulling on grip straps, pistol retains 90% of the original military factory blue-black finish. Brown holster by Trohler stamped 40. The Black Widow has always had very sinister connotation and is highly sought by collectors.
