The Model 71/84 rifle was basically a Model 71 with the addition of an eight round tubular magazine. Serial No. 9991 can be found on frame, barrel breech. Bolt is stamped "5868". "91" on trigger guard. Buttplate has regimental markings. Breech is stamped "Erfurt" with crown. Has all the usual German proof marks. All three barrel bands are stamped "91"; tube is stamped "91". No import stamp. Rear sight is marked "91". right side of frame is stamped "1887"; left side is stamped "Mod. 71/84". Walnut stock has no hand guard (never did). Blued finish Walnut stock with usual German proofs is in excellent condition with usual war-time dings. Slings swivels. Action is fine. Strong clean bore. Excellent, early German bolt action military rifle.
