Manufactured 1862 to 1864. Lock is marked "L.G. & Y. WINDSOR VT US (eagle) 1863". They are similar in appearance to the Model 1861 Springfield, but parts are rarely interchangeable, and the locks and hammers are distinctively different. The source of the design is attributed to Colt. Standard 1863 rear sight. Barrel is dated 1863. Left side has "VP" eagle head proof. Left side of stock has two perfect cartouche in oval. Buttplate is stamped "U.S.". All metal is finished in the white. Has three barrel bands and original ramrod. Fine action. Strong, clean rifled bore. Far above average example.
