The Second Models were referred to as the Model of 1863 and were manufactured 1863 to 1865. Made without the tape primer or tang sight. There is a sling ring on left side of frame. Government inspector mark on left side of stock (not readable). 4" octagon barrel to round has a military folding leaf sight. Left side of frame has the patent dates while right side of frame is stamped "MASS. ARMS CO., CHICOPEE FALLS". Left side of barrel is stamped "G.W.B.". The barrel is rust blued, hammer is fired blued, frame and lever are case colored. Sports a walnut buttstock. Barrel retains about 85-90% original blue with some age freckling and toning. The area at the lower tang where serial number was, was cut out and replaced. Tip-up barrel with strong rifling. Perfect action. Hammer has most of the Nitre blue finish. 50% or better original case colors. Stock is excellent with no cracks or chips. This is a lovely, far above average Maynard.
