Cyrus Edwin Dallin (American, 1861-1944) titled this piece "Scout", and inscribed "CED / 1910" on the base and "COPYRIGHT 1912 / C E DALLIN" alongside the base. The original bronze also has an inscription from the Gorham Foundry, which is missing from this example. Offered is a bronze that we believe to be a second generation casting that is missing the extreme detail of the original. Regardless, it is a gorgeous bronze with a rich, dark brown patina and mounted on a green marble plinth. Mr. Dallin's command of human and equine anatomy is in full splendor in this very collectible sculpture.
