Round steel smoothbore barrel with bayonet lug mounted on underside near muzzle and breech stamped "AR / P / V / P / (Eagles head)". Flat percussion lockplate stamped with large eagle over "U.S." in center and "HARPERS / FERRY / 1848" at tail. Standard steel Model 1842 furniture. Full length walnut stock with trace of inspector's mark on left side. Buttstock with carved initials "A.P.H. / 33". Complete with "US" marked Model 1842 socket bayonet with triangular blade, patina matches that of the musket. Very good condition; all steel components retain an even dark grey patina with heavy pitting on breech and around bolster. Stock retains a nice, even patina with some scattered marked from use and minor wear.
