Rifled, octagonal, Damascus barrel with patent breech, adjustable sights and top flat inlaid in silver with "GEBR. HOFFMANN U KISTER IN SUHL". Back action percussion lock with dolphins head hammer. Lockplate and hammer are finely engraved with scrolls and inlaid with silver designs. Double set triggers and hammer safety. Barrel tang is inlaid with silver and decorated with scrolls and has a flip up adjustable peep sight at rear. Full length walnut stock with shaped panels of checkering on forend and around wrist. On left side of buttstock, relief carved with scene of vulture on dead deer. Steel furniture with engraved scrolls and silver inlays. Patchbox engraved and with silver inlays. Trigger guard composed of silver inlaid steel and horn. Fair condition; all surfaces have been heavily cleaned and refinished, showing heavy wear and some losses to silver inlays. Ramrod replaced. Action tight and bore excellent and bright. Furniture retains much of contemporary casehardened finish.
