Manufactured in 1887. According the factory letter this rifle was shipped, as it now exists as a standard octagon barrel, plain trigger, shipped on September 29, 1887. Features full octagon barrel, full magazine, blued finish, original sporting front sight, 1876 folding ladder rear sight. Top of breech stamped, "Cal. 45-75". Barrel has razor sharp legends and edges and retains approximately 85-95% blue starting to mix with patina, tube is basically a soft brown patina. Frame has original traces of blue finish but basically now a soft gray brown patina. Brass lifter is not stamped with caliber. Plain walnut stocks in excellent condition but slightly shy to metal at tang, having been refinished at one time. Has a crescent rifled buttplate. Hammer and lever have basically patina out with traces of case colors. Loading gate has 30% original blue. Strong clean, near mint rifling and fine action. Rifle is far above average with one of the nicest bores we've ever seen on one of these models. Extremely fine rifle with lots of condition and in the popular large bore caliber.
