Blade etched with naval motifs and presentation, "Presented by Edward Holland MP to Lt. Alfred J. Cheek RN 19 May 1859". Gilt bronze hilt retains much of the original bright gilding. Sharkskin grip wrapped with braided copper wire. Blade is mostly bright with serious rust and pitting towards tip. Characteristic of swords carried on Naval service. Sword is by Henry Wilkinson Pammell 7798. Naval swords of this period are very desirable.
