Serial No. 14433. Blade etched on right side, Yokahama Mounted Volunteers. Blade of spear tip point. Broad single fuller and narrow fuller up top. Blackened iron hilt with checkered composition riveted grip. Scabbard is blackened en suite with hilt. This sword is one of 20 made for British soldiers supporting the Japanese emperor, Meiji. Blade is very clean with some evidence of sharpening towards tip. Scabbard is clean and crisp. Possibly the only opportunity to purchase this rare and desirable variation.
