Barrel is dated February 1916 Springfield. Base of the floorplate is stamped "NRA" with Ordnance bomb and retains 95% original high polish blue. 85% high polish blue on trigger guard. Nice 85% original blue on exposed sections of barrel. 70% blue on forend tip. 80% blue on barrel bands. Has the proper 1916 era rear sight with dished knurled adjustment knobs. Blue collar 90%. Straight bolt. Still has case colors on safety. Stock is near mint with perfect "JSA" (Joseph S. Adams). Perfect serif "P" in circle on wrist. Proper fully fine checkered trapdoor buttplate. ME reading: 0. Bolt has most of the original blue with the exception of the bolt knob, in fact this is one of the nicest condition NRA 1916 Springfields one could hope for. Stock is nearly flawless. The one exception is that the frame dates to 1918 and has been parkerized. We do not know if this was done to put a high number frame to make the gun safe for shooting. It is a shame given the overall extremely nice condition of the balance of the rifle. If a future buyer had access to a 1916 era blued frame, this rifle would be unimprovable.
