This gun was made near the end of production in 1917. The only British mark on the pistol can be found on the butt, which is a crown 30. No other visible British proof marks. Most likely intended for commercial sales. Matching serial number can be found on the end of the cylinder and bottom of barrel. This gun came out of Canada and has a small Washington export mark under barrel. According to the Smith & Wesson book, 14,500 were made for the Canadian service. The revolver remains in near new condition inside and out. Cylinder has a light drag line and minor high edge wear, as does back of frame and light muzzle wear. Still retains 95% brilliant factory blue with stunning case colors on hammer and trigger. Beautiful gold medallion diamond checkered walnut grips with penciled serial number on right panel. Has lanyard ring in butt. Blue is a commercial blue and not military. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer example of this early .455 hand ejector.
