This variation was so rare that its existence was not known at the time the Luger book or Lugers at Random was written. It was not until a major dealer purchased all of the supply of Portuguese Lugers that this variation was discovered. It is similar to the 1935/06 with the exception of the shorter barrel and there is no Navy stamp above the chamber and safety marking on frame is spelled "seguranca" instead of "sarregada". It appears they were ordered in batches of 50, this being from the second contract. Total quantity unknown. Two other surviving examples are within 22 serial numbers of this gun; with four digits. Both feature grip safeties with blue finish and straw small parts. All matching numbers. Mauser banner stamped on toggle. Grip safety has been reblued and has minor pitting. Grip straps are grey. Balance of gun retains approximately 80% original blue. Walnut grips are not numbered. Aluminum bottom magazine. Fine bore and action. An extremely rare, never seen Luger pistol.
