Manufactured 1864 to 1865 in Meridan, Connecticut with approximately 3,000 made with 30" barrel. Has seven shot magazine tube in butt, twist loading system, iron mountings, single barrel band, twin sling swivels (one on toe and one on butt; butt missing), post front sight, ladder style rear sight. Frame is stamped "MERIDAN MANFG CO." on left side, and left side of loading box is stamped "KENTUCKY". Contract for 5,000 Triplett & Scott carbines was executed January 2nd, 1865. The state of Kentucky was to arm 5,000 home guard troops to protect the supply lines of the Union Army. All metal is a dark brown chocolate patina from the frame forward. Frame itself has traces of case colors. Wrist has a crack and was repaired. Wood is very good.
