Seven-groove rifled barrel with browned and striped finish, two gold-inlaid bands at breech, stamped "DERINGER/PHILADELA" and left flat engraved with borders around "P". Top flat marked with retailer stamp "MAN"D FOR/HYDE & GOODRICH/AGENTS N.O." Small German silver sight at muzzle. Flat percussion back action lock engraved with typical scroll engraving and stamped in center "DERINGER/PHILADELA". Engraved silver furniture, including barrel key escutcheons, scroll engraved serpentine sideplate, vacant shield-shaped wrist escutcheon, and trigger guard with pineapple finial and scroll-engraved bow. Silver ramrod ferrule and inlay below lockplate. German silver nose cap with rocker-panel engraving and small buttcap with steel lid on nipple reservoir. Figured walnut stock with checkered panels around wrist and small wooden ramrod. Excellent condition, barrel retains 90-95% brown finish, thinning in some areas. Lockplate retains silvered patina, hammer retains much of thinning blue finish. Silver unpolished and retaining even grey patina. Stock excellent with a few light storage marks, retains much of original finish, one minor area of wear on relief section of grip on left side. Hyde & Goodrich was a major retail firm that opened in 1819 in New Orleans, Louisiana. For a similar example, see page 29, figure 21 of "The Deringer in America: Volume I" by R.L. Wilson and L.D.
