Document itself measures 13-3/4" x 8-1/2", framed in a gilt frame with glass on both sides, measures 17" x 13" including frame. Partially printed, partially hand written, on paper. Signed by both James and R.P.(Rezin Pleasant) Bowie, as well as several of their important associates. The document states that $16,000 is to be paid by James Bowie and his associates to Horace Gridley, sheriff of Adams County, Mississippi. The payment will then go to its true owners, merchants Soher Goodman & Co. The document is dated January 19, 1831. The bond then discusses the terms and conditions and is signed by the sheriff at the bottom. Document includes a professionally researched archive of information on the bond and the history of the transaction and all the parties and persons associated with it, as well as a transcription. The 21 page research document was done by "Research by Rossbacher" of Orange, Virginia. The research is very thorough and complete. James and Rezin Bowie signatures are very scarce and valuable. Excellent condition with some minor losses to edges, some folds and a few minor stains.
