The artist, E. Wood Perry, has depicted a mother sitting in front of a large fireplace, as she holds her son close. While the mother has her arm wrapped around the boy's waist, she points something out to him on the edge of the stone that surrounds the fireplace. Whatever she has pointed out, entrances the two of them. Perry has done a wonderful job or portraying these two figures, however the scene must either take place at night or overtime the colors have become darker due to age. The artists signature is present on the lower left corner of the painting, on the very edge of the fireplace. Overall the painting is in good condition with normal wear, craquelure and some areas that are deficient of color. The painting is framed in an ornately carved golden colored frame. Please note the light that hangs over the top of the frame to bring light to the painting.
