Curved blade with large single fuller, gilt decorated designs engraved on both sides. Right side with Lady Liberty, arms motifs, and banner "L. WELLS & CO. / NEW YORK / WARRANTED", opposite side features arms motifs and a patriotic eagle. Gilt brass hilt with large solid guard and patriotic knuckle bow featuring American eagle and stars on a stippled background. Ivory grip with fluted grooves and faceted spine. Complete with black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. Very good condition; as re-gilded, blade retains traces of blue and generous traces of gilt, otherwise a spotted grey patina. Hilt with some edge wear and scattered marks. Grip with large age crack on left side and small chip at pommel on both sides. Scabbard good with some scratches and losses of gilt on mounts. Leather has been repaired and shows flaking, separation at seam, and crazing.
