This lot consists of a portrait of President Chester A. Arthur. The President's body is almost at a full frontal position, while his head is tuned to a three quarter view. The President is dressed in a black coat, with black vest underneath, white button down shirt and black bow tie. President Arthur has a strong presence with his large mustache and wild mutton chops on either side of his face. The President gazes out past the viewer and to the left. The piece was not examined out of the frame and does not appear to have been signed by the artist. Crazing is present along with wear to the canvas. Please take note that there is a crack in the canvas. The painting is framed in a large wooden frame with minor golden details. It was not examined out of the frame.
