This lot consists of a portrait of President Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States of America. Depicted in this portrait is a full frontal of the President, as his head is tilted slightly to the left. The President dons a dark colored jacket with matching vest, high collared white shirt and multicolored tie. President Hoover is standing in front of the red and white stripes of the American flag as he gives a smile to the crowd. If one looks at the upper right of the canvas the enthusiastic and playful brushstrokes of the artist are present, along with “Herbert Hoover.” The painting is framed in a simple wooden frame with gold accents and three golden stars in each of the four corners. The painting was not examined out of the frame but displays normal wear and crazing. This painting is accompanied by a copy of a letter to President Hoover written by William Oberhardt who is claimed to have painted the portrait for President Harding.
