Late 19th century catlinite peace pipe and matching catlinite stem attributed to the Lakota Sioux in South Dakota. Rarer large example, with artful high-relief carved rings and linear patterns on the pipe bowl and stem. Shows signs of use, deep patina, all original with no breaks or repairs. Pipe bowl measures 9 inches long x 4 1/4 inches tall, the stem measures 18 1/4 inches in length. Connected together total length is 27 1/2 inches.
