Late 1800's period Prairie Region ball head war club. Artistically carved with excellent style and form from a single root burl, dyed walnut with a smooth, deep patina from age and use. Likely Oto or Sauk and Fox, the war club measures 20 1/4 inches in length and 4 1/2 inches across the ball and has a carved down grip section. Pictured in the 2009 book "The Mark Francis Collection of American Indian Art" page 135 figure 210. Ex-Jim Dresslar/Mark Francis collections.
