The Model 56 was part of the Levermatic series announced in 1955. Its lightning action required a 25 degree stroke. Features seven shot magazine, fires all .22's, flush magazine, easy takedown, and receiver drilled and tapped. This is an early model with the steel squared-off receiver. In 1956, they went to a round aluminum receiver. So this rifle is a first year one year only model. It was never serial numbered. This rifle is in literally as new condition inside and out. There is not a mar anywhere on the wood and just a couple minor storage marks on lever.
