Manufactured in 1890. The factory letter states that this revolver was shipped as a blue .44-40 with 4-3/4" barrel, stocks not listed, shipped to Simmons Hardware Co. St Louis 8-27-1890. Caliber is correct but is now nickel plated. Gun has been completely engraved during the period in New York Style - Helfricht Style engraving. Wears a pair of real Mother of Pearl grips; right panel carved with a star. Has nearly full coverage scroll and punch dot background engraving, masterfully executed. Overall gun retains approximately 95% of the nickel finish applied at the time of engraving. It is stamped with block letter, Colt Frontier Six Shooter on left side with the three lined patent address. Very good to excellent pearl grips with chip right heel and repair. Left grip panel is excellent. Nice bore and action. Lovely New York style engraved antique Frontier Six Shooter.
