The Model 1866 is the only Winchester in that the rifle is more rare than the carbine prior to World War II. No factory research available. Features full octagon barrel, full magazine, original Winchester sporting front sight, original Winchester folding ladder rear sporting sight marked to 800 yards, razor sharp legends on barrel, sharp edges, brass frame, nose cap, and rifle buttplate in excellent condition. Nice strong case colors on side of hammer. Lever has turned a dark brown patina. 50% original high polish blue on loading gate. Excellent stocks, proud to metal with no cracks. This rifle remains in excellent all original condition. The barrel is a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina with sharp legends, no corrosion of any kind and lots of bright blue on both sides. Tube is a pleasing brown patina. There is a sling swivel set in front nose cap and a sling swivel set into rear stock. Nice brass. Some frame screws slightly buggered. Simply lovely honest, far above average model 1886 Winchester.
