Browned, octagonal, steel rifled barrel. Left flat stamped "W.M. LARGE" and top flat stamped "RK". Browned, flat flintlock mechanism with engraved brass furniture including four piece patchbox. Engraved with a tomahawk on the lid and side plate engraved with arms motifs. Full length figured maple stock of typical York County form with relief carving of a bell flower behind the ramrod entry ferrule and barrel tang. Relief "C" scroll carving on both sides of the cheek piece. This is a very accurate and high quality copy of one of the best known Schreyer rifles. The original is from the collection of Joe Kindig Jr. Excellent condition. Barrel and lock retain an aged brown patina. Brass retains a mellow polished patina. Stock excellent and showing only a few light marks. Bore is bright and shiny. One of only a few made by Raymond Kirkbride, who originally lived near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and eventually moved to Alaska. His work is some of the best work of any contemporary maker, rivaling the original.
