Round smooth bore barrel with bayonet lug mounted on bottom near muzzle. Breech marked "V / P / (Eagle's Head)" and stamped "NEW HAMPSHIRE" on top, tang dated 1851. Flat percussion lockplate stamped in center with large eagle over "U.S." and tail stamped "SPRING / FIELD / 1851". Full length walnut stock with standard Model 1842 steel furniture and ramrod. Very good condition; all steel components have been cleaned and retain a light grey, lightly pitted patina overall with excellent markings and some scattered marks from use. Stock is very good with some scattered marks from use.
