These revolvers date to the mid-1870's. First Model features include open top, scoop flutes and two left frame screws above trigger. Assembly number on barrel 3798; matching number on cylinder. Features factory Hopkins & Allen engraving with some scroll, punch dot, crow's feet and vine. Has Mexican eagle with snake on left side and a bunch of grapes on right side. Nearly full coverage engraving. Gun is basically grey patina. Inside grip frame is stamped 8798. Has lanyard ring. Comes with real stag grips. Very good bore with some light corrosion at breech. Gunsmith made release/catch. Some traces of original nickel present. Stag grips are slightly ill-fitting. This gun has the look of a fancy, true South of the Border Western revolver, favored by bandits on both sides of the Rio Grande. Great Western look.
