The factory letter states that this revolver was shipped as a nickel .44-40 with rubber stocks to Hibbard, Spencer Bartlett & Co. of Chicago, Illinois on 3-19-1883. Barrel length is not listed in the letter. Caliber and finish are correct. It sports a 5-1/2" barrel. Gun has been completely engraved during the period in New York Style, Helfricht Style engraving. Wears a pair of real MOP grips but with chip at right heel. Has nearly full coverage scroll and punch dot background engraving, masterfully executed. The barrel retains approximately 90% nickel finish with near perfect etched panel, frame retains approximately 90% finish, back strap has some freckling, front grip strap is gun metal gray, and cylinder flutes are brown patina. Strong rifled bore. Perfect action. Handsome looking 1880's Frontier Six Shooter.
