This pistol was shipped to the Brooklyn Naval Yard on October 5th, 1912. It is a very early example of a U.S. Model 1911. Blued barrel is not marked. All other parts proper for era. Slide has pony in circle on the left side. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 US Navy". Left side of frame reads "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with the "WP" (Walter Pennfold) inspector stamp on left side. All proper parts including the long smooth milled trigger, short checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety. Slide has Colt pony in circle on left rear. First type rounded rear sight and low profile front sight. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 US Navy". Polished blue colt magazine with lanyard, not keyhole. Near mint diamond checkered walnut grips. Small serial number right side of frame between trigger guard and muzzle. Inside of frame is stamped "H6". Back of slide is stamped "H". The barrel retains 90% blue but shows no inspector markings, it could be original and the "H" was polished of when reblued. Proper smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard. Completely proper (except where mentioned), original first year Navy Colt that has been restored to as new condition by a professional with razor sharp edges and legends; even the pony is perfect. There is one pinhead sized touch of wear on both sides of muzzle. Grips are near mint. If you've been looking for a Navy 1911 that looks like the day it was made and don't want to spend $30,000 this pistol is for you. Work was all correctly and professionally performed.
