This revolver was shipped Richards & Canover Hardware in Kansas City, Missouri on November 5th, 1856 with blue/case finish, 7-1/2" barrel and .38 Special caliber. This was the first year that the Colt Single Action Army was reintroduced and was referred to as Second Generation. It was subsequently nearly fully engraved by an unsigned master engraver. Brown patina on barrel. The case colored frame is basically grey patina and is completely covered in deep cut scroll pattern with punch dot background. Blue cylinder is done in similar pattern with full engraving except for flutes. Top of barrel has 80% scroll engraved coverage around address. Ejector rod housing in 75% engraving coverage. Muzzle has two lines. Backstrap engraved. Sports a pair of ivory grips with carved steer on right side. This is all done in the 19th century Helfricht style. Clean bore. One of the finest Second Generation engraved Colts we have offered.
