This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/22/2017
This lot consists of an oval painting, of what could be considered the long ride that many early Americans did to travel out west. In the foreground there are rocks and a dirt road with two covered wagons. One of the wagons is reminiscent of the early wagons that settlers used, while the other appears to be more ornate, with windows, a door and gilding. Just above those wagons there are train tracks with a coal powered train coming from the right side of the painting. In the middle ground, to the left of the image, there is a building, which is surrounded by open land and rolling hills leading to the blue open sky. Floating in the center of the painting is a crest with a black horse on one side and a white horse on the other side. Above the crest, there is an eagle that holds a ribbon in his beak, noting the phrase "E Plurious Unum." That phrase is Latin for, "out of many, one." The crest is divided into three horizontal stripes- blue, red and white. In the blue, there is a ship, in the red there is an antique plow, and a barrel of hay appears to be in the white. Overall the piece is in good condition, with normal wear present. Craquelure is present on the painting and it is framed in a dark wooden oval frame. There are cracks in the frame.
Condition: (Very Good).
