This lot consists of a portrait of President Madison seated in front of a red curtain that reveals a library behind him. The President almost appears as if he is not just looking past the viewer but through him as if he is lost within his own thoughts. He dons a black coat with a white shirt and ascot. The painting is framed in a simple wooden gilt frame. Normal wear is present along with minor craquelure. There are areas of the frame that are deficient of the golden coloring revealing the red undertones of the frame.
Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
