As the collecting of Colt Pythons evolves, serious collectors generally have all of the major known variations. In seeking to raise a collection of Pythons to its zenith, it has become a matter of finding the true rarities of Python collecting to set a collection apart. To our knowledge this is the first public offering of two consecutively numbered Colt Python revolvers shipped during the third year of production in near new condition in original boxes. Both Colt Pythons feature six shot, double action, vent rib, adjustable rear sight, target hammer, thin trigger, blued finish with the first style fully checkered walnut grips with gold medallions. Serial No. 2135 does not even appear to have a cylinder line. No visible finish wear of any kind and is as close to 100% as you can get. Serial No. 2136 has some blue wear to the cylinder pin only and revolver finish is also basically 100%. Neither cylinder shows any burn and the grips are near mint to mint on both (No. 2135 does have a dark oil spot). The letters reveal the interesting way in which Colts were shipped: 2135 was shipped as a 6" royal blue to the Seminole Gun Shop, Miami, Florida on March 19th, 1957 in a shipment of six guns; while 2136, a royal blue 6", was shipped to Sam Engbar, owner of Sam's Loan & Jewelry Company in Pocotello, Idaho on March 12th, 1957 in a shipment of two guns. So, the later gun was actually shipped seven days earlier than the earlier numbered gun. Both revolvers come in original first type Colt Python boxes with proper end labels. Both have pre-zip code warranty cards and handling instructions, and a copy of original type instructions along with period wax paper. Both boxes with the wood grain outer and emerald green interior. It is obvious that consecutive pairs are not sent consecutively, nor in the order of serial numbering. While the serious collector may find consecutive numbered guns in their search, finding an earlier pair would be extremely difficult and is virtually unheard of currently.
