This best grade, double set shotgun was manufactured by Mallin of Ontario, Canada in the 1980's. The rib is stamped "Custom made for Van Sant by F.E. Mallin & Son 19, Union Stp. Melborn. Ont." "Tudor Rode Model 1982" While assembled in Ontario by Mallin the barrels are actually English and have the English crown proof, BNP are stamped best for best grade. They are stamped 2 - 3/4" 12 729. Both sets of barrels are stamped in the same English proof pattern. The frames are also stamped with the BNP British proof marks, which means that the frames and the barrels were manufactured for Mallin in England and that he simply did the custom fitting and finishing of these fine made British shotguns. They are a matched set in all details and numbered "1" and "2" on release in gold. Made of best quality, chopper lump steel barrels, special highly grained select seasoned french walnut stocks with gold ovals. True side plates are fully engraved by hand with carved fences. No screw heads showing on the sides of frame, only a single screw head at base of frame. Light engraving at breech of barrels which are also numbered "1" and "2". The checkered beaver tailed forends features the Anson release. Barrels are finely blued with double bead sights, single select trigger, cased hardened frames and side locks with hunting dogs in oval vignettes and knighted blue release. Quick detachable sideplates. The gold ovals have the previous owners initials "SA". Straight grip English stocks, top tang safeties and auto ejectors. This exquisite pair of hand built, best quality English shotguns remain in near new condition inside and out and are housed in a custom English style oak and leather fitted case lined in green felt. Comes with a nickel plated oil bottle made in England. A meticulous set of shotguns with regards to the detail and craftsmanship that went into building this wonderful match set. The wood fit finish and engraving are equal to any best quality English shotgun manufactured. The nearly impossible to find a finer set in terms of workmanship or beauty.
