The right side of the stock bears the 3/4" cartouche in circle "RF" with the SS runes. This training facility was established by Hitler in 1936 and it's leader and champion Heinrich Himmler. The emblem was for the Reichsfuhrer SS Training School. This was the armed wing of the SS. All applicants had to be verified Aryan. It became the most feared fighting unit in Germany during the second World War. These there the true Nazis; not draftees, children or old men. This rifle was used for training purposes and is one of only a few surviving examples so marked. Matching numbers on barrel and frame. Bolt has matching 0093. Standard features include full length walnut stock with pistol grip, walnut hand guard, single barrel band with band forend, military adjustable rear sight and commercial type blue finish. Trigger guard retains approximately 60% original blue, starting to freckle. Wood is excellent with a couple of dings. 90% original blue on barrel. Frame is a mix of blue-brown patina. Bridge has Mauser banner. Excellent bore and action. Stock is cut for a sling with barrel band sling attachment. Buttplate is stamped "STREIFENDIENST SCHAAR 3.2.406"; the Streifendienst was to consist of male Hitler Youths between sixteen and eighteen, who in close cooperation with the Gestapo and other SS branches were charged with the policing of, first, wayward members of the entire uniformed HJ and, second (and especially important for the war), any suspicious members of the Reich’s youth as a whole.
