Cataloged from 1878 to 1908, this was the pinnacle of the large frame single action revolver. This revolver is in factory nickel finish with case colored hammer and trigger guard, and Smith & Wesson logo checkered black composite grips. Has factory lanyard ring indicated by additional full serial number at butt. Matching serial numbers on latch, barrel and frame. Cylinder is numbered 23212. Barrel retains approximately 35% original nickel with the balance blending to gun metal grey. Frame retains approximately 70% original nickel, balance blended. Cylinder retains 90% original factory nickel. Fine fire blue on latch. Strong case colors on side of hammer and trigger guard. Grips are excellent to near mint. Strong, clean bore. Perfect action and tight as new lock-up. Very handsome nickel plated No. 3. Factory letter states this revolver was shipped December 29th, 1894 to Takata & Co., Yokohama, Japan agents for Japanese government with 6-1/2" barrel, blue finish, butt swivel and checkered black hard rubber grips. As to finish, either factory error or period dealer applied nickel, as it appears 100% original and period.
