Manufactured 1861, second year of production. Matching serial number on barrel, frame, brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, cylinder shaft and on back of the cylinder indicating that this revolver left the factory as an original long flute revolver. Wedge is not numbered. The long flute cylinder has the original nipples. Backstrap and frame are cut for should stock. Shoulder stock screw has been replaced with a flush screw. All six original nipples and six safety pins are worn but visible. Outer cylinder walls each features a bit of scroll engraving and patent date is stamped into one of the flutes. All metal is basically grey patina with visible legends. Numerous military inspector stamps on most major components. Early, steel backstrap. Indexes perfectly. Slight erosion ring in the middle of the barrel. A handsome, homogeneous, rare matching number, long flute, early 1860 Colt Army in perfect working order.
