Probably made in Ohio. Octagonal rifled barrel signed "W.J. Haines" in script on top flat with a star on each side. Flat percussion lockplate stamp engraved and marked with worn maker's markings. plain brass mounts. Figured maple half-stock with pewter end cap. Very good condition, barrel shows some edge wear and has a mostly brown patina. Lockplate has been cleaned and is missing hammer screw. Stock good with a period repair between lock and barrel tang and one on left side of forend. Some areas with dark patina and heat cracks with some minor losses, probably from a fireplace.
