Round rifled barrel with bayonet lug/front sight mounted on top near muzzle and two leaf rear sight. Breech marked with large "16" and tang stamped with large "K". Flat percussion lockplate dated 1862 at tail, stamped with large eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" in center. Standard Model 1861 steel furniture. Plain walnut stock and steel ramrod. Complete with socket bayonet, triangular blade stamped "US / JB", partial scabbard and through mount present. Good condition; all steel components retain a light grey patina with some minor freckling and scattered marks. Stock is good; showing some wear and marks from use. Bayonet good with brown patina, shortened slightly and scabbard missing some of leather and drag.
