This trapdoor rifle remains in excellent all original condition. Barrel is a spotted blue-brown patina with some salt and pepper freckling. 1884 rifle rear sight and sling swivels. Two barrel bands are both stamped "U". Trigger guard is blue and brown patina with a serrated knurled trigger. Perfect wood to metal fit at lock. Blued lock stamped "U.S. Springfield" with eagle. Left side of barrel has the "V.P." eagle head proof. Block is stamped "U.S. Model 1884". Original walnut stocks are excellent with "LWP/1889" cartouche and visible "P" proof. Buttplate is stamped "U.S.". Fine action and strong rifling with excellent shiny bore. Very good overall.
