No one knows for sure how many 8" barrel Dragoons were manufactured, but it was very limited and is seldom seen. Serial number range is 18000 and up. All other features are standard to include six shot, single action, blue and case colored, brass trigger guard and backstrap, and varnished one piece walnut grips. Top barrel flat has address "COLT NEW YORK". Has all matching serial numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder. Wedge is numbered 5121. Revolver is in as found condition. Barrel address partially visible. Has a replaced brass dovetail front sight. Colt patent stamped on left side of frame. Several inspector marks visible. No cylinder scene. Traces of nickel on trigger guard. Replaced brass screw on butt. Muzzle is rounded from holster wear. Salt and pepper texture on barrel. Frame is brown. Screws are marred. There is some denting on recoil shield and cylinder. Very good refinished grips. Indexes but out of time. Strong visible rifling. Not a closet queen but a good representative original version of one of the rarest of all Colt revolvers. Best guess estimate production is less than 50.
