Factory research states: rifle, octagon, set trigger, triple X checkered stock (no pistol grip), and case hardened. Received and shipped August 18th, 1875. Letter matches the rifle to a 'T'. Rifle is in near new condition as professionally restored. The quality of the workmanship is without question of factory quality. The colors are correct and the wood is superb with fiery grain and razor sharp diamond checkering. Rust bluing with some freckling and high edge wear leads one to believe that the barrel, tube and forend are original and untouched because you can see the brown patina coming through with freckling. Razor sharp legends. Factory original rear sight and knife blade copper front sight with dovetail base. 90% fire blue on thumbprint dust cover. 100% case colors that include the rifle buttplate. Wood is proud to metal. Fire blue on loading gate. Near mint strong bore with some frosting. It is our opinion that the case colors and wood were freshened up, leaving the original barrel and tube with original rust blue with just enough freckling and patina to where the rifle appears all original. Simply a phenomenal rifle.
