This lot consists of a bronze bust of the first President of the United States, George Washington. The artist has depicted President Washington looking off into the distance. Solely by looking deep into the eyes of the President, the viewer can almost feel as if they are there in the room with him, as he is about to make a great and heavy decision. The President dons what appears to be a jacket with a collared shirt and ruffled ascot. The bust sits on top of a marble base, that is marbled with white, grey, and pink coloring. On the verso of the piece, the artists signature can be found, "Felix de Weldon." This is present on the left side of the bronze. The piece appears to be in good condition with normal wear present, along with several markings on the front of the marble base.
