This lot consists of a portrait of General Dwight David Eisenhower, prior to him becoming the President of the United States. On the verso of the painting, there are several stickers noting whom the portrait is of, along with a didactic. The didactic notes that the title of the portrait, along with that this piece is an oil on canvas and that Eisenhower is depicted as the general who was Head of Allied Command. Also noted is that "this great portrait, possibly done from life, was used on the cover of the special D-Day issue of Time Magazine for June 6, 1994." The provenance of the piece is also noted on the didactic. The artist, whose signature is found on the lower left corner of the painting, depicts Eisenhower in his military garb and hat. General Eisenhower looks out the audience with a look that is similar to that of 'Uncle Sam's "I Choose You"' look. On the lower left of the canvas, the artist's signature is present, "J. Somerset Butler." The painting is framed in a wooden gilt colored frame. Overall the piece is in great condition with normal wear present.
