This lot consists of a portrait of President James A. Garfield. The artist has depicted the President in almost a complete profile, however the viewer is able to see part of his other eye. The bust, the artist has done in a quarter profile. He dons a dark colored suit coat, with a white collared shirt and black bow tie. President Garfield is depicted with kind eyes that see out into the distance. The artist has him seated in front of a dark greenish colored background. The painting is framed in an ornately carved wooden gild frame. Overall the item is in good condition with normal wear present along with the majority of the wear on the frame of the painting with color and wood deficient areas.
