This lot consists of a portrait of President Thomas Jefferson. The artist has depicted President Jefferson in a dark colored suit coat with a black vest and white collared shirt with a ruffled ascot. The President is portrayed in a quarter profile. He looks out to the viewer with a strong and serious look, one that is deserving of the office that he holds, but yet at the same time , with kind eyes. Even though the painting displays age and darkening, red curtains are still present in the background, taking note to traditional early colonial American portraiture. The painting is framed in a wooden gild frame, that displays much wear and areas deficient of coloring and wood. Overall the piece is in good condition with normal wear present along with craquelure.
