This lot consists of a portrait of President Gerald R. Ford. Depicted in this portrait, is the President facing the viewer head on, with a warm slight smile and kind eyes. He dons a blue suit coat, light blue collared shirt and a red, white and blue tie. The manner in which the artist has constructed this portrait, it almost appears to be a study for a larger portrait, a his face is finished, however his bust is not. The artist has the President in front of a light brown background and on the lower left of the painting the artist has left a note confirming that this painting is a study. The note follows, "President Gerald R. Ford- Life Study For White House Portrait. Everett Raymond Kinstler. Vail, Colorado. July 1977." As the note on the lower left of the canvas confirms, this is a preliminary sketch for the official Presidential portrait for President Ford. This is seen in the sketch-like quality of the strokes used in this painting. On the verso of the canvas, is the artists signature, the sitter's name, date and location. The painting is in a wooden gild frame that has red undertones present. Overall the lot is in good condition with normal wear present.
